O Problema da Fase em Cristalografia
Abstract
This article presents some fundamental aspects of the discovery of X-rays and their use in crystallography in order to deduce the molecular and crystalline structure of solids despite the difficulty inherent in the lack of knowledge of the diffracted beam phases. The trial and error methods, the use of the Patterson function and the direct methods are presented.
Keywords: X-ray diffraction, X-ray scattering by atoms, molecular structure, crystalline structure, trial and error, Patterson, and direct methods.
