Abstract

With the advent of globalization, it has become notorious clenched and steady growth of a competitive environment, targeting companies in the search for a path that distinguishes for its strategic profile. Innovation is the way for the rise of the company obtaining competitive advantage to competitors. The study aimed to conduct a survey about the innovations implemented by small and medium sized companies Sergipe in 2016, and as such measure innovation influences the search for competitive advantage these companies in the market. This research is considered descriptive, the source was the field, and it is a multiple case study, a qualitative approach, adopting the management analysis model of innovation proposed by Scherer and Carlomagno (2009) proved to be suitable with respect to verification of practices implemented innovation management in enterprises to obtain competitive advantage. Evidence in accordance with what was considered by the story of entrepreneurs who do not exist or had specific goals related to market expansion through innovation or launching new products / processes / services. It concludes that this research shows that despite the size of innovation is not a privilege or merit of large companies, since the companies surveyed demonstrated even with the absence of human capital and R&D, seek intuitively result in innovative processes.
