ENSINO RELIGIOSO, INTERCONFESSIONALIDADE E EPISTEMOLOGIAS AFRO-BRASILEIRAS:
um olhar decolonial sobre os limites da normatividade cristã na LDB

This article presents a critical analysis of Religious Education in Brazil through the lens of Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education (LDB – Law No. 9.394/96), focusing on the limits of interconfessional approaches in relation to Afro-Brazilian religions. From a decolonial perspective, it problematizes how Brazilian educational legislation, while claiming to embrace religious diversity, continues to operate under a Christian-normative logic that often excludes or folklorizes African-based spiritual traditions. Through a critical documentary analysis of the LDB and a bibliographic review involving authors such as Frantz Fanon, Aníbal Quijano, Catherine Walsh, and Luiz Rufino, the study reveals how legal and pedagogical frameworks reproduce colonial structures of silencing and epistemicide. Religious education is examined not merely as curricular content, but as a symbolic and ideological battleground capable of either reinforcing or challenging power hierarchies. By placing Afro-Brazilian spirituality at the center of the discussion, the article denounces the political emptiness of interconfessionality when it fails to recognize cosmologies that do not conform to Western religious models. It concludes by emphasizing the urgent need to reconfigure the foundations of religious education in Brazil so that Afro-descendant epistemologies are genuinely integrated into the ethical and cultural formation of future generations.
