A IMPORTÂNCIA DA EDUCAÇÃO SUPERIOR NA DEFINIÇÃO DA CENTRALIDADE DE AQUIDAUANA (MATO GROSSO DO SUL/BRASIL)

Abstract

The next paper seeks to study the centralizing role that, related to the higher education services, is exerted by Aquidauana-MS among the network of cities of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Our subject of study is comprehended by both the Campus of Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) and State University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UEMS), located in Aquidauana, which attend an important amount of population of students that overpass its own influence area, reaching state capital and localities as Corumbá and Naviraí which already have their own campus of the same institution; going further to another Brazilian states such as São Paulo. Paraná, Rio de Janeiro and Rondônia. This fact is consequence of a project of universalization of higher education in Brazil conceived during the governmental period of Workers Party (PT) that had as a goal: social inclusion and reduction of educational inequality between historically segregated populations as those who lived at peripheral and rural areas, or those who self-identify themselves as black, mixed or indigenous.
