A ESPETACULARIZAÇÃO “NA” E “DA” FRONTEIRA E OS SEUS DESDOBRAMENTOS SOCIOTERRITORIAIS: OLHARES GEOGRÁFICOS SOBRE A FRONTEIRA BRASIL-PARAGUAI

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the socio-spatial dynamics that occur around the Brazil-Paraguay border and the show was chosen as a category of analysis to understand the geography that takes place there. However, the reflection presented in this article has an empirical basis, as it is the result of visits made, in October / November 2018, in some border areas between these two Latin American countries. From the analysis made, it is understood that this debate is intense and unfinished in geography. In addition, the discussion around this theme takes place with different approaches. In this sense, the spectacularization of the frontier and the society of the spectacle are inseparable. The spectacularization on (and from) the Brazil-Paraguay border is part of the globalization process, which imposes new values ​​on society. It appears that the current globalization, contradictorily, produced both the frontier and the spectacle, as well as the society of the spectacle, based on the consumption of goods. The spectacle society materializes at the border, promoting trade and consumption of goods. It is understood, however, that the spectacle that lives around the Brazil-Paraguay border is part of the process of capital accumulation on a global scale.
