The northeast pump it up championship as a tourist attraction in e-sports events
Abstract
Event tourism causes socioeconomic impacts in localities and acts by balancing the tourist flow in low season periods. With the advancement of the internet in recent decades, e-sports events have gained more and more prominence and the gaming market has become responsible for an annual revenue higher than the film industry. The objective of the present study is to analyze the e-sports events as a tourist attraction, enabling the understanding of the attractiveness of the Northeast Pump It Up Championship. Descriptive-exploratory research and a quantitative approach were used as methodology, in which data were collected through a digital questionnaire and analyzed with the aid of basic statistics. Based on data from 50 respondents, the results showed that, despite being a small event, the Northeast Pump It Up Championship has significant tourist attractiveness and not only regional, but national relevance. Therefore, it is inferred that e-sports events contribute to the tourism production chain.
