This article intends to investigate how Aristotle moves towards a 'theology' when considering the existence of 'separate substances' or 'supersensible', admitting the existence of realities alien to hylomorphic ones while allowing the principle of movement of sensitive substances to be guaranteed. In this sense, we seek to understand how the enigmatic existence of these substances is related to the fundamental Aristotelian conceptual framework regarding ‘substance’. To this end, we always delimit, at first, the controversies involved in Categories and Metaphysics Z with regard to the theory about substance. Next, it will be identified how the characterization of the separability of the substance gives rise to the possibility of the existence of truly isolated matter, through which Aristotle elaborates his theology in Metaphysics Λ.
