THE PHENOMENOLOGICAL AND DIALECTICAL CRITIQUE OF PSYCHOANALYSIS IN SARTRE

Abstract

The article aims to analyse Sartre's main critical formulations of psychoanalysis, so as to demonstrate that, throughout his work, he never yielded to the determinism of psychoanalytic theory. To achieve this goal, a two-step approach is proposed. In the first one, the emphasis is placed on the phenomenological criticism against psychoanalysis The Imaginary, Sketch for a theory of emotions and The Being and the Nothing. In the second one, it is some movements in Sartre's work, in the period of approximation with dialectics, that end up reflecting on his reading of psychoanalysis, especially in the Scénario Freud, The man on tape and some of his interviews that were contemporary to The Family Idiot. This shows that Sartre remains strictly critical to the determinism of the unconscious and to the psychobiological conception of libido, through a dialectical conception of the phenomenological notion of lived-experience.

Fabio Caprio Leite de Castro, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul

Professor integrante do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Filosofia da PUCRS. Doutor em Filosofia pela Université de Liège - Bélgica (bolsa CAPES). Mestre em Filosofia pela PUCRS (bolsa CAPES). Possui graduação em Ciências Jurídicas e Sociais, graduação em Filosofia e graduação em Psicologia. Membro da Société Belge de Philosophie, da Unité de Recherches Phénoménologies e do Groupe d'Études Sartriennes (GES - Paris). Editor da Revista Intuitio. Professor visitante do programa de Posgrado en Filosofía de la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana - Colômbia (2018). Advogado do escritório Santos Silveiro Advogados. Membro do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa - CEP-PUCRS (2016-2018). Atua principalmente nas seguintes áreas: fenomenologia e hermenêutica, ética, psicanálise, filosofia do direito e sociologia do direito.
