SAINT MANUEL BUENO, MARTYR: THE HOLY MAN IN A LIFE DEVOID OF FAITH AND FUTURE
Abstract
This article has as an object an analysis of the novel by Miguel de Unamuno, "São Manuel Bueno, Mártir". Dom Manuel, fictional character, parish priest of a small village that faces a great dilemma: loss of faith and confidence in the future. In this journey, Unamuno takes advantage of playing in matters of grave importance today, such as the question of suicide, the reason for existing and the existence of a supreme God. In this article, we sought to understand the concerns and motivations of Dom Manuel, bringing to this discourse characters from other authors and other stories, for a deeper understanding of human motivations and the importance of the meaning of life.Downloads
