Contributions to Jürgen Habermas' New Political History
the relationship between Human Dignity and Human Rights in the present time
Abstract
This article aims to analyze the contribution of the reflections of Jürgen Habermas for the New Political History, especially with regard to the relationship between human dignity and human rights, which for the author is a conceptual hinge capable of ensuring the implementation of the legal discourse, where instrumental reason is used for the formulation of awareness of the people about their rights to be guaranteed by the democratic state. The author believes that there is a possibility of emancipation through this path traversed by the moral notion of human dignity, that "one and the same everywhere" ensure the indivisibility of human rights. Finally, the article reports the concerns of both Habermas as Hobsbawm against the misuse of human rights as legitimizing discourse of intervention actions and imperialism practiced mainly by the United States.
