ABSTRACT

 

This study intends to contribute to the understanding of the role of education in regional development, through the analysis of existing studies. For this purpose, a systematic literature review of 15 articles was developed in which the main themes addressed on this subject were identified. Analysis of this study allowed us to verify the main forms of interactions between education and regional development in the existing literature. Thus, the results indicate that education contributes to regional development in several aspects and can sometimes be considered a decisive factor for the results of regional development, acting as an operative mechanism for changing the social structure and a stimulus instrument to technological advancement.
