DESENVOLVIMENTO TERRITORIAL NO MATOPIBA
análise a partir dos fluxos de comércio entre os anos 2000 a 2018
Abstract
This paper analyzed the profile of exports from the MATOPIBA region (set of municipalities that belong to the States of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia) in the period from 2000 to 2018, based on data on trade flows provided by the Ministry of Economy of the Brazil, verifying the degree of concentration of exported products (ICP) and destination countries (ICD) determined by the Gini-Hirschmann coefficient. The results suggest an increase in grain production focused especially on oil seed and fruit crops; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder, which in 2018 already represented more than 50% of the export basket. Such products are mainly based on processes related to the expansion dynamics of the agricultural scale with a high tendency to external vulnerability. In parallel, China represents more than 50% of the export destination, a result that has already surpassed the USA since 2010.
