HILOS POR MMA
una propuesta de economía circular a través de la educación ambiental en La Guajira, Colombia
Abstract
Hilos por Mma is a circular economy project that takes into account aspects of environmental education and local culture of indigenous peoples. It is being developed in the La Guajira Peninsula, Colombia in a group of indigenous Wayuu communities. The objective is to clean the territory by changing garbage bags with waste collected by the communities for threads that are later used for the production of local handicraft products, especially bags, by the women of these communities. We are obtaining the first results where we begin to verify the strengths of the project, as well as its challenges. Developing thematic workshops for communities that take into account their specific needs. We also created a community fair trade store for the sale of these handicraft products, which are then passed on the profits from the sales to the artisans involved.
