ZONEAMENTO AGROCLIMÁTICO DA MANDIOCA (Manihot esculenta Crantz) PARA O ESTADO DE MATO GROSSO DO SUL (MS), BRASIL
Abstract
The objective of this study was to carry out the agroclimatic zoning of cassava for the State of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), Brazil. Information on the climatic needs of cassava was analyzed, establishing classes of capacity for crop development. Data corresponding to 30 years (1988-2018) were obtained through the National Aeronautics and Space Administration / Prediction of Worldwide Energy Resources - NASA / POWER platform, referring to air temperature (T) and annual precipitation (P). With the combination of the two variables, agroclimatic zoning was defined. Apt areas were considered when T was between 20 and 27 ºC and P between 1,000 and 1,500 mm. Therefore, it is expected to improve the readiness of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS) in responding to regional climatic variability, reducing vulnerability, serving as a subsidy, and adapting the management systems according to the classes of culture aptitude in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. An expressive and favorable result was obtained for the cultivation of cassava, the region presented areas with slight restrictions to excess rain (± 143 mm) and high temperature (± 0.6 ºC), this fact should not compromise the expansion of new areas , growth, development and productivity of cassava in MS.
