CADEIAS CURTAS DE ABASTECIMENTO ALIMENTAR: Contribuições dos canais de comercialização para a agricultura familiar em tempos de COVID-19
Abstract
The pandemic caused by COVID-19 reached Brazil in early 2020 and caused several health, economic, and social problems, which exposed the fragility of several economic sectors in the country. Social isolation was adopted as a measure to contain the disease and affected family farming, which traditionally was already considered socioeconomically vulnerable. Short supply chains emerge as a possibility to mitigate the isolation measures by providing an opportunity to bring the producer and consumer closer through direct sales. Given the above, this article aims to analyze the impacts that the pandemic by COVID-19 caused in the direct sales channels of short food supply chains adopted by family agriculture, as well as the coping strategies implemented to minimize these impacts and maintain the profitability of the sector. To this end, an exploratory literature review research was conducted. The results suggest that direct sales demonstrate greater resilience and flexibility for family farmers.
