CONTRIBUIÇÃO ECONÔMICA DO CONHECIMENTO
a movimentação da economia local a partir do investimento em bolsas de pesquisa
Abstract
This theoretical essay sought to discuss the economic contribution of knowledge from the movement that investment in research grants can provide in the local economy. In this sense, we assess the possibility that this investment – raised by the university and distributed in the form of research grants – contributes indirectly to society, including minimizing the cognitive distance existing between the university and society. This initial proposition demonstrates that the economic measurement of research, as a result of a new perspective of evaluation of investment in research grants, can cause investment in research grants to be classified and compared through calculability devices, making it more socially understandable. This result can be relevant to guarantee legitimacy to the research process, assign reasons for investments, provide a better perception of the economic return of research, greater understanding and credibility of society in relation to investments in science - specifically those linked to research grants, as well as enabling the quantification and valuation of dimensions that are difficult to measure, such as the economic value attributed to knowledge.
