Abstract

International Business is commercial activities and transactions between companies from different countries, driven by the search for access to specific resources, market opportunities, risk diversification and increased global competitiveness. Globalization plays a fundamental role in this process, promoting social, cultural, political and economic exchanges between nations, making it possible to reduce trade barriers, technological advances, transfer of knowledge and innovations. However, in the context of International Business, the concentration of financial operations in the USA, Western Europe and East Asia results in an unequal distribution of wealth and access to resources. This article proposes the investigation of the premises of the actions and operation of the international financial system acting as mediators of Foreign Trade transactions in large hubs, allowing real-time transactions anywhere in the world. Through an exploratory bibliographical research, and a selected theoretical framework, it is possible to present the following premises: (1) The financial sector is extremely regulated and suffers from political influences, (2) Regulation and influences change from country to country and ( 3) Offshore financial centers are examples of these different regulations.
