GREEN ECONOMY AND FINANCIAL CREDIT DESTINATION IN BRAZIL

Abstract

The growth potential of the Brazilian market regarding the green economy is very large, mainly in the agricultural sector, as the country is the largest exporter of beef, poultry, soy, coffee, orange juice, sugar and the second largest exporter of corn. Therefore, the general objective of this work was to present and analyze the flows of credits for the green economy sector in Brazil, through a literature review and consultations to the database of the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febrabran). The research revealed that the credit resources destined to activities related to the green economy represent only 20% of the total destined to economic activities in Brazil, in 2019. There was still a relative concentration regarding the geographical destination of the resources taken, being mainly in the Center region West and Southeast region.
