O PROCESSO HISTÓRICO DA LEI Nº 11.340, DE 7 DE AGOSTO DE 2006, MAIS CONHECIDA COMO LEI MARIA DA PENHA

Abstract

 The text addresses the historical process of Law nº 11.340, of August 7, 2006, popularly known as Maria da Penha Law, in order to have public policies aimed at confronting violence against women. With that, the objective of the summary is to analyze how the law guarantees this right to women, what protective measures are taken for the aggressor, and the duties of the Brazilian Nation in relation to the non-perpetuation of these brutalities, since our country is in fifth place among countries with the highest rates of violence against women, making it necessary for this law to be exposed to all people who need legal protection. We used document analysis to develop an explanation of the summary, and some authors who address the topic, such as: Saffioti (2001), Da Silva (2017), Teles and Melo (2003). We conclude that the law brings educational possibilities for a just and egalitarian society.
