Focus and Scope

Aims and Scope

Journal of Experimental Techniques and Instrumentation - JETI is a peer-reviewed, international journal published on behalf of the Postgraduate Program in Materials Science, Physics Institute of Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.

JETI publishes the results of development of experimental apparatus for lab measurements or materials synthesis, studies related to the fundamentals of experimental techniques widely employed but sometimes employed and misused by students.

Papers on all aspects of the experimental techniques are welcome, including, but are not limited to, a variety of topics such as:

Synthesis and sample preparation: powder preparation; colloidal science; chemical methods, physical methods; self-assembly; hybrid processes, etc.

Characterization techniques: analytical; microscopy; scanning probes; nanoscopic; optical; electrical; magnetic; acoustic; spectroscopic; diffraction; etc.

Instrumentation developments: Calibration, experimental apparatus, technical assemblies, electronic circuits, hyphenated techniques.

Computer programs: source codes, microcontroller programs, computer interface with equipments, measurements programs, software for data analysis.

This journal is an open access journal, which provides free access to its articles to anyone, anywhere!

Peer Review Process

Referees and author recommendations

Papers submitted to the journal should involve technical and experimental instrumentations, preferably but not exclusively presenting novelty or highly relevant contributions to the area. Articles that are considered helpful to graduate students and scientific communication will also be considered for publication. All communications must present a detailed description of procedures and, when necessary, examples of applications.

Mathematical development must be detailed when necessary. Sample preparation, experimental limitations and any other relevant aspects also must be present in the body of the paper. The external researcher indicated to referee a paper may recommend further or additional information when he/she finds it relevant.

The journal is interested in, but not limited to, the following topics:

• Synthesis and sample preparation: powder preparation; colloidal science; chemical methods, physical methods; self-assembly; hybrid processes, etc.

• Characterization techniques: analytical; microscopy; scanning probes; nanoscopic; optical; electrical; magnetic; acoustic; spectroscopic; diffraction; etc.

• Instrumentation developments: Calibration, low cost apparatus, technical assemblies, electronic circuits, hyphenated techniques.

• Computer programs: source codes, microcontroller programs, computer interface with equipment, measurement programs, software for data analysis.

Publication Frequency

The JETI is published quarterly. The first Volume must be published in Jan/2018.

  • Vol.1, n.1: January - March;
  • Vol.1, n.2: April - June;
  • Vol.2, n.1: July - September;
  • Vol.2, n.2: October - December.

Open Access Policy

Legal requirements

Submission of a manuscript implies that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities—tacitly or explicitly—at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.

Permissions

Papers that include figures, tables, or any other material that have already been published elsewhere (including in the authors’ own previous papers) are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) and to state clearly in the figure/table caption or other appropriate locations in the manuscript that such permission has been obtained.

For example: reproduced with permission from Ref. [XX], © The American Ceramic Society 2015. It is the authors’ responsibility to retain an electric or hardcopy of the permission. Any material received without such statements will be assumed to originate from the author(s).

Online submission

The submissions must be submitted electronically via an online manuscript submission system at the journal website in the author's area. Please login on the right column of the journal homepage, and follow the steps recommended, upload all of your manuscript files following the instructions given on the screen.

When submitting your manuscript online, please suggest at least two reviewers with their names, email addresses, and affiliations.
