Hospitalidade compartilhada e a AirBnb: reflexões sobre antigos valores, tempos modernos, novas concepções
Abstract
Tourism keeps the pace of technology. New ways of receiving people are emerging, among them is Airbnb, a shared economy platform, which inserts the common population as a hospitality provider, and intermediates the guest-host relationship. The article is a theoretical essay on aspects of hospitality at Airbnb, in which we examine the trend that anyone can earn income, by receiving unknown people in their own home or unoccupied property and thus offering hospitality. The study aims to analyze concepts of hospitality and, to identify the relationship between guest and host based on trust and reciprocity, on the implicit and explicit rules of the relationship and the advantages of sharing accommodation for both parties, in a simple “person to person” negotiation and, thus, provide subsidies for future research on hospitality in the shared economy. A bibliographic selection was made, in which we used the inherent concepts to hospitality and interrelated them with the Airbnb platform, making a study of what the guest-host relationship is like. We intend to contribute to the research on shared economy linked to hospitality as a “gift”. The study is justified by demonstrating the possible paradigm breaks when comparing the commercial and social aspects of hospitality, since it was observed that most studies deal with the economic model of the new system and are restricted to the hospitality industry, which analyses more commercial aspects than social ones. In the discussions, the connections of the criticisms and thoughts of the referenced authors are presented, thus bringing new conceptions on the theme.
