Pet friendly service in the hotel chains of Paranaguá (PR)
Abstract
Pet-friendly services are becoming more common in commercial establishments and in the tourism industry, making it easier for people to enjoy leisure and travel with their pets. With the growth of the pet market worldwide and the affectionate bond between humans and animals, people have started to travel more with their pets, and as a result, they seek places that offer services and infrastructure to accommodate them. The hospitality industry has also embraced pet-friendly services, with many entrepreneurs seeing them as an opportunity to stand out in the market by providing unique products and services. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze pet-friendly services in two hotel chains in Paranaguá (PR), Ibis and Camboa, by examining the physical and human infrastructure of these establishments. In this regard, the present work is a case study based on on-site observations and semi-structured interviews with the hotel supervisors mentioned. Furthermore, it was observed that despite the existence of some pet-friendly services, they are limited and need to be expanded based on a service plan for effective and targeted customer service tailored to the needs, desires, and aspirations of this segment.
