Inventory, planning and sustainable tourism development in the municipality of Pouso Redondo/SC
Abstract
The tourism planning process is a complex activity, in which inventory stands out as one of the main tools, providing a diagnosis of the destination and contributing to territorial planning. The present research aimed to present alternatives for sustainable tourism development in the municipality of Pouso Redondo, in the state of Santa Catarina (SC), through nature tourism. The research adopted procedures such as bibliographic research, documentary analysis, interviews, and direct observation. The work involved physical immersion in the territories, documented in a field diary, with photographic records of the areas. The analysis of empirical data considered the basic guidelines of the Ministry of Tourism for ecotourism development. After visiting the points of interest, an analysis of their potential as tourist attractions was carried out, taking into account the unique characteristics of the flora, fauna, terrain, and landscape. The research outcome aims at regional development based on sustainable principles, and tourism can contribute to this. It is concluded that there are many natural attractions that can be considered for tourist use in the focused area. However, challenges range from lack of awareness or consideration of these possibilities to the absence of public policies or private/community initiatives that promote or drive sustainable tourism development.
