PUBLICATION POLICY
FOCUS AND SCOPE
The Journal Ateliê do Turismo (AT) is an online journal that publishes original articles and essays that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Tourism and Hospitality, in its various interfaces with other areas. With a biannual periodicity, the journal counts on the contribution of national and international authors, contemplating as its mission to provide a space for dialogue, diffusion and scientific reflection, providing the promotion, accessibility and dissemination of the academic and scientific studies related to Tourism and Hospitality. With national and international coverage, written papers can be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. The journal also foresees the publication of interviews, experience reports, and reviews of interest to the scientific community in the area.
From this proposition, the Journal Ateliê do Turismo was born in 2017, as a sociability space for the exchange of information and publication of papers, articles, and critical reviews related to tourism/hospitality/leisure and related areas.
Types of manuscripts accepted for publication:
Research Articles - These can be empirical or conceptual studies, with a maximum of 10,000 words.
Review Articles - These can be studies with annotations and criticism of the literature in a specific field of knowledge of tourism, hospitality and leisure, with a maximum of 10,000 words;
Research Notes - These are brief communications with concise, short reports on a specific research theme, topic, as well as development of a theory or method, with a maximum of 3000 words;
Viewpoint - Opinion and interpretation of a researcher with a mandatory Ph.D. degree and/or Post-Doctoral Internship for research and practice. This type of manuscript should not exceed 3000 words;
Reviews - Opinion and interpretation of a researcher with a compulsory Master's degree, Doctorate and/or Post-Doctoral Internship. The scientific review highlights the importance of synthesis, dissemination, interests, the obligation to propose a critical debate, positive or negative of what has been previously produced.
Outreach reports - Reports on an outreach project or programme developed in a higher education institution, focused on the external community and related to tourism.
Important: Ateliê do Turismo follows the continuous flow process (in practice this means that as an article is ready and edited, it will be published). This action follows the trends of international scientific publications), with the exception of thematic dossiers, whose publication depends on the opening of calls, proposed by one or more organizers. Contributions are accepted in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

Peer Review Process
All contributions submitted to the Ateliê do Turismo Journal undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process, ensuring impartiality and quality in the analysis of manuscripts. After online submission, the texts are forwarded to specialized reviewers who evaluate them in a confidential and objective manner. The estimated time between submission and the release of the evaluation result, along with the publication estimate, is a maximum of twelve weeks.
Stages of the submission process:
Online Submission Stage. Registration and submission. The author(s) should follow the Author Guidelines process. Important: The author(s) must fill in all the metadata fields in order to publish the article;
Analysis Stage. The article is analyzed by the Editorial Board, which evaluates the adequacy to the journal and proposal norms.
Ad hoc peer review stage. If it meets the conditions for publication, the article is sent to two ad hoc referees for blind peer review.
Evaluation stage. In the blind peer review phase, the reviewers may recommend acceptance, rejection, or changes, which must be responded to by the author in red. If there are notes for changes, the author will be informed and invited to adapt the manuscript.
Layout and Publication Stage. The changes will be evaluated again by the editorial team and, if necessary, by the referees. If there are conflicting recommendations in the first blind peer review, the editorial team will send the manuscript to a third and/or a fourth ad hoc reviewer.
Reviews and Essays are evaluated by the editorial team, with the coordination of a section editor. If deemed necessary, these contributions may be sent to ad hoc reviewers.
In the presentation of the papers, we analyze
The relevance, adequacy, and expression of the title to the theme;
Adequacy of the abstract to the theme (with the object of research, justification, objective, methodology, results);
The good representation of the key words;
If the text is structured with good organization (according to the guidelines for authors).
Regarding the content, we evaluate
The good and correct writing of the Portuguese language and/or another language submitted;
The focus of the article as to the thematic dossier, or free research related to tourism and hospitality;
The clarity of the theme and the objectives of the work;
A clear argumentation and logical sequence;
The appropriateness of the methodology applied;
And the correspondence of the conclusions to the work developed.
In turn, regarding originality, we investigate
If the article presents a good contribution to the field of knowledge;
If it contains a new approach;
If there is any problem with plagiarism/copying from the internet (using an application called Turnitin Originality).
Finally, we check the citations, references, and illustrations (regarding standardization issues)
If the text uses the Author/Date citation system;
When there are illustrations, they are inserted in the text respecting the Authorship Guidelines;
The correct application of References, according to APA norms 7 Edition (2019) American Psychological Association.
DETECTOR SYSTEM
All articles are analyzed with a plagiarism detector system - TURNITIN ORIGINALITY and/or another available at the Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul.
PERIODICITY
The Ateliê do Turismo Journal is an open-access electronic scientific periodical, published on a continuous flow basis. It accepts submissions in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, and aims to disseminate studies, research, and reflections in the field of Tourism and related interdisciplinary areas. The journal seeks to contribute to the production, dissemination, and internationalization of scientific knowledge, ensuring academic quality through a peer-review process.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
This journal offers immediate free access to its contents, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater global democratization of knowledge. This journal is licensed under a https://creativecommons.org/
PRESERVATION AND ARCHIVING
This journal is part of Cariniana - Brazilian Network of Digital Preservation Services, which adopts the LOCKSS Program (Stanford University). The journal's archival status can be confirmed at https://portal.issn.org/

PUBLICATION FREQUENCY
Electronic semiannual scientific journal (minimum 2 issues a year), published in Portuguese, Spanish and / or English. Atelliê do Turismo has as its main goals to publish studies, research and experience reports of teachers, researchers and professionals of Tourism and Hospitality area.
AUTHORSHIP
According to the recommendations given by journal indexers, the limits of papers by authors linked to the Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) and the editorial board will be respected. Each year, no more than one paper will be published by the same author.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CONTENT
None of the institutions, organizations and/or persons involved in the boards, committees or the editorial and management process of the journal are responsible for the content of the articles. Such responsibility lies entirely with the authors of the respective articles.
All authors must have participated in the preparation of the articles in such a way that they can take public responsibility for their content.Qualification as an author should presuppose the following steps:
1. conception and the design or the analysis and interpretation of the data,
2. writing the article or its critical review, and
3. approval of the version to be published.
FEES
Ateliê do Turismo does not charge any fees for submission, evaluation and/or publication of articles, reviews and essays.
