Abstract

Abstract: This is an article resulting from the research “Seed of Repertory: stereotypical, prejudiced and discriminatory expressions in relation to women in the daily lives of professionals in the justice system”. The main objective of the work was to highlight the way in which language is capable of perpetuating different oppressions, with a focus on gender discrimination. To this end, we analyzed national and international legal norms and documents, in order to highlight how the elimination of gender stereotypes is provided for in the legal system. Afterwards, the entries and phrases collected in the aforementioned research were analyzed based on feminist theory, in order to demonstrate how language reproduces social standards and can promote oppression or liberation. It was concluded that, based on all of the above, it is essential to change society's cultural patterns and, for this, education with a gender perspective is the best strategy.

Silvia Pimentel, Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo

Possui Graduação e Pós-Graduação em Direito pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1970) e Pós-Graduação em Psicologia da Educação na mesma Universidade. Concluiu Doutorado em Direito pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1977). Atualmente, é professora doutora da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo onde ocupa o cargo de Coordenadora do Núcleo de Direito Constitucional da Pós-Graduação em Direito da PUC/SP e representante docente da Faculdade de Direito da PUC/São Paulo no CEPE - Conselho de Ensino e Pesquisa. Fundadora e membro do Comitê Latino Americano e do Caribe Para a Defesa dos Direitos da Mulher (CLADEM-1987), e membro de seu Conselho Honorário Consultivo(desde 2005),fundadora e membro do Conselho Diretor da Comissão de Cidadania e Reprodução (CCR-desde 1992) e "Expert " (2005-2016) e em 2011/2012, Presidente do Comitê sobre a Eliminação da Discriminação contra as Mulheres, da Organização das Nações Unidas (CEDAW/ONU). É coordenadora do Grupo de Pesquisa de Direito, Discriminação de Gênero e Igualdade da PUC-SP. Integra a Comissão de Direitos Humanos da OAB/SP.

Maria Almeida Mendes de Oliveira, Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo

Mestranda em Direito Constitucional na PUC-SP. Possui graduação em Direito pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2022). Atualmente é assistente na Optativa Direito, Gênero e Igualdade da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo.
