1841: THE WORLD-HISTORIC SPLIT IN WESTERN PHILOSOPHY
the expurgation of hegelianism
Abstract
In this article, the philosopher Andy Blunden presents the critical-philosophical and historical context of the purge of Hegelianism in Prussia in 1841, which caused a historical division in Western philosophy. For in addition to the purge of Hegel's philosophy being taken by the Prussian Monarchy as a kind of official program, Hegel left behind a whole theoretical framework that inspired powerful revolutionary criticisms of the very official society that had sanctified him and the ten years after his death de Hegel were the heyday of Hegelianism, where his students popularized his teachings and translated them into the language of politics.
