The emergence and development of transitional justice as a field of research and practical application
Abstract
The text provides an overview of the formation, importance and transformation of Transitional Justice, discussing the practical application of justice/rights and truth, through which their location in historical contexts is achieved. Based on the identification of the main actors and institutions in the field, the academic dimension of the field of Transitional Justice is described, identifying the interfaces and demarcations of Peace Studies and Development Studies. The author also takes stock of historical studies in this field. Finally, problematic areas are identified and a critical assessment is made. It also raises the question of to what extent Historical Peace and Conflict Research (PCR) and Transitional Justice can better work together and to what extent PCR can benefit from Transitional Justice.
