Perfil e atuação de Microempreendedoras Individuais (MEIs) em um município de Minas Gerais

Abstract

The general objective of this study was to analyze female entrepreneurship from the perspective of Individual Microentrepreneurs from a municipality on a tourist circuit in Minas Gerais. Qualitative, descriptive research was carried out through a case study. The data collection instrument was the semi-structured questionnaire. The results indicated that the majority are, on average, 35 to 44 years old, have completed secondary education, have a family income of more than 2 to 3 minimum wages, are married women and, on average, have 2 children. Before working as MEI, they worked as employees in a company, having family members who were entrepreneurs. Its activities involve providing services in the food sector, with revenues of around R$2,000, with its businesses located, for the most part, in their homes. Being a MEI is their only source of income, formalization helped with sales and obtaining good purchasing conditions, with the main reason for registering being the benefits from the National Social Security Institute (INSS). For them, the biggest challenge of female entrepreneurship is reconciling multiple roles. Furthermore, they believe that being an entrepreneur does not interfere with their family relationships and opening the business was due to opportunity.

    He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in administration from the Federal University of Lavras and a PhD in Forestry Engineering from the Department of Forestry Sciences of the Federal University of Lavras. She is currently a full professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology - Minas Gerais - Campus Bambuí-MG (IFMG). He has experience in ​​Administration, with an emphasis on Management of rural and environmental enterprises, working mainly on the following topics: agribusiness, agricultural projects, administration and rural economy, entrepreneurship, people management, research methodology and Course Completion Projects and corporate social responsibility.
