Convergence of Paradigms in Project Management: PMBOK 7, Lean Construction and Integrated Project Delivery
PMBOK 7, Lean Construction e Integrated Project Delivery
Abstract
Project management has undergone significant transformations, driven by the increasing complexity of projects and the need for greater integration among stakeholders, processes, and technologies. In this context, this study analyzes the convergence between three contemporary management paradigms: PMBOK 7th edition, Lean Construction, and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). An exploratory and bibliographic approach is adopted, based on specialized literature on project management, Lean Construction, and Integrated Project Delivery, with an emphasis on the comparative analysis of their principles and contributions to the design process management. The analysis shows that PMBOK evolves from a process-centered structure to an approach oriented toward principles and value delivery, aligning with the logic of Lean Construction, which prioritizes flow, waste elimination, and continuous improvement. At the same time, IPD proposes contractual, technical, and organizational integration among project stakeholders, reinforcing collaborative practices and shared responsibilities. The results indicate that these models are not mutually exclusive, but complementary, forming an integrated management system oriented toward collaboration, efficiency, and value generation throughout the project life cycle.
