An analysis of the growth of violence against transsexuals and transvestites
Abstract
The main objective of this work is to reflect on the cases of aggression suffered by transsexuals and transvestites, as well as to highlight stories that illustrate the seriousness of the problem, denouncing homophobia and transphobia based on the reflection of different ways of thinking about sexuality. , gender identity and violence against Lesbians; Gays; Bisexuals; Transvestites; Transsexuals or Transgenders; Queer and others - LGBTQ +. The paper discusses the differentiation of the concepts of sex, gender identity and sexual orientation in order to foster social and academic debate about the expressive growth of cases of gender violence, as well as reflecting on recent cases of aggression motivated by hatred and prejudice. that plagues contemporary Brazilian society. The partial results of the research lead to the understanding of one of the biggest problems rooted in our society, the unjustified violence that falls on the gender identity difference, sexuality. Thus, it is possible to foresee that the growth of cases of violence against LGBTQ + is the result of a homophobic structural and structuring model of society and needs to be fought in favor of equality and equity.
