Abstract

The dissemination of the use of genetically modified organisms in Brazil and in the world, and all its applications, from seeds to medicines, from biofuels to biosafety, makes it important to have more in-depth knowledge in all areas related to biotechnology and justifying a survey. bibliographic on this subject, with the aim of investigating biotechnology due to the considerable increase in the use of genetically modified organisms in Brazil and worldwide. This work was carried out through a bibliographic survey, searching for concise information in scientific articles published in journals, electronic magazines and books, where it can be seen that in agriculture, the use of transgenics can increase food production, and can create plants that adapt better to certain environments and also plants resistant to herbicides and insects. With population growth, demand for food has increased, and biotechnology can create methods to increase food production without depleting natural resources and without negatively impacting the environment and biodiversity.
