Abstract

The article aims to introduce Social Science students to the process of building and strengthening the teaching of sociology in Brazil, providing a brief overview of the challenges faced by social scientists in academic activities (schools and universities), in addition to propose the analysis of an exercise applied to the participants of the mini-course “The professionalization of the social scientist and his performance in the labor market: possible paths for the exercise of the profession in Brazil”, held at the III International Management Meeting, Development and Innovation (EIGEDIN) at the Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS / Campus de Naviraí), between September 10 and 13, 2019. In the explanation proposed in this article, what guided us was the following question - and the possibility of an answer to it -: the teaching of sociology in Brazil was / is a solid and urgent political and intellectual project or was / is a symbol of disorientation professional of the social scientist as a teacher? At the end of this text, we intend to shed some light on this debate.
