Abstract
The purchasing function plays a significant role in the overall performance of the organization and in the specific performance of various departments. Thus, purchasing decision making is an important factor that should not be neglected by companies. This work aimed to identify which are the determinant variables of the purchasing decision in organizations. For that, a qualitative and descriptive research was used, the data collection took place through face-to-face interviews with managers of 5 small companies in the commerce and service segments. Data were analyzed using the content analysis technique. The results show that quality and delivery time are the factors that most interfere in the buyer's final decision, with delivery time being the determining factor, as it impacts on the reduction of inventory levels. Quality was observed as a relevant factor, depending on the product, more important than price.
