IS THE TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE MODEL (TAM) APPLICABLE IN BUSINESS? AN APPROACH FROM THE SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE
Abstract
The use of technologies in organizational processes has generated competitive advantages. However, the implementation of these technological systems may encounter obstacles caused by the resistance of their users. To solve this problem, several theoretical models of technological acceptance have been developed. In this context, this research aims to synthesize and classify the most influential works that investigated the adoption of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) within the business environment. To achieve the proposed objective, a systematic literature review was carried out. The results suggest a satisfactory adequacy of the TAM model in organizational environments, being a useful tool for managers to achieve success in their technological ventures. Some pertinent points were also found: the preponderance of the perceived utility variable as the most statistically significant element over perceived ease of use and the non-applicability of the TAM model in some segments of certain countries. Research suggestions addressing these topics are also presented. As a practical implication, the present study contributes to the reflection of managers in the process of implementing websites, applications, e-commerce, computerized systems aimed at the internal user, as well as directly meeting a latent demand for improvements in the provision of services via digital channels, given the hybrid work alternatives.
