CONSTRUCTION OF INDICATORS AS A SUSTAINABILITY TOOL
Sustainability Indicators
Abstract
With globalization policies aiming to achieve development or sustainability has become an appeal for many in recent decades. A series of events have been taking place, demanding a political scenario to implement important measures. To measure the impacts on the various variables linked to the growth and development of society, indicators such as, for example, the Human Development Index (HDI) and the Environmental Sustainability Index (ISA) emerged. The general objective of this work was to identify and classify the different sustainability assessment methodologies. To achieve the proposed objectives, we opted for an exploratory descriptive design that seeks to observe, record, analyze and correlate phenomena without their manipulation. The research reveals that the triple bottom line of sustainability is still a complex topic, which must be analyzed and studied to better understand the processes, seeking to assist and guide decision-making when directed towards sustainable issues.
