TOURISM AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT: STUDY IN THE WATERFALL ECOLOGICAL PARK OF URUBU-PIAUÍ-BRAZIL

Abstract

Organized tourism is a practice of socioeconomic and cultural contribution relevant to local development. However, it is necessary to plan and structure the conservation areas so that they do not cause damage to the environment. Thus, this objective study analyzes the contribution of tourism in the local development of the Cachoeira do Urubu Ecological Park region, between the cities of Batalha and Esperantina-PI, as well as investigating whether the occurrences in a sustainable manner in the environment and in the population involved. For the development of the work, bibliographic searches, on-site observation and information conversations were made with the requirements for use on the spot. It should be noted that tourism in the Cachoeira de Urubu Ecological Park is of great importance for social, economic and cultural development, however, it needs to be benefited by an adequate planning with participative management, to perform in benefits for both the natural environment, tourists and the local population involved.

    Pós doutorado em Geografia pela Universidade Federal do Piauí (2019); Doutora em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2017). Fez doutorado Sanduíche em Geografia na Universidade de Coimbra (2017). É Mestra em Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente pela Universidade Federal do Piauí (2011). Possui Graduação em Licenciatura Plena em Geografia pela Universidade Federal do Piauí (2008). É integrante do Grupo de Estudos Geodiversidade, Patrimônio Geomorfológico e Geoconservação (GEOCON/UFPI); e no Grupo de Pesquisa Estudos Integrados em Bacias Hidrográficas (IFMA); É professora Formadora do CEAD-UFPI (2018). Faz parte do Banco de Avaliadores do Sistema Nacional de Avaliação da Educação Superior (BASis)MEC. Coordenou o Curso de Licenciatura em Geografia da Faculdade de Educação São Francisco-FAESF (2012-2013). Coordenou o TCC na Faculdade de Educação São Francisco-FAESF (2013). Atua principalmente na área da educação e pesquisa, nos seguintes temas: Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente, Vulnerabilidade socioambiental, Bacias Hidrográficas, Desenvolvimento Sustentável, Impactos ambientais urbanos e rurais, Gestão ambiental, Ordenamento territorial e Educação Ambiental.
