Sharing Economy and Airbnb platform: a bibliometric analysis

Despite the sharing economy beinga recent phenomenon, its diffusion has been expanded in emerging destinations. Many platforms and companies have become successful, sustainable and profitable business models, presenting the great potential for economic development. Seeking to verify the expansion of such an event, this paper, through a bibliometric analysis, to analyze how studies on sharing economy and the AirBnB platform, an example of peer to peer business model, and analyze how they have evolved and spread into the scientific community. This research is an cutout from the author’s Master’s dissertation (Oliveira, 2018) and analyzed scientific publications related to the sharing economy and AirBnB themes, enabling the constructions of a map of published studies. From the presented protocol, 56 articles were found, having analyzed their main problems and contributions. In addition to offering an overview about researchs in sharing economy, we have identified the opportunity for future studies to analyze this phenomenon and also refine the theoretical approach.
