EVENT TOURISM AND COVID-19: CONTRIBUTIONS OF SECURITY PROTOCOLS AND STRATEGIES FOR THE RESUMPTION OF THE SECTOR
Abstract
This research deals with the situation of event tourism in the Brazilian market in the face of pandemic calamity. It aims to analyze the contributions of health security protocols in order to point out strategies for the return of tourism from events in Brazil, in addition to proposing a unified protocol for the resumption of face-to-face activities in the sector. Its theoretical approach is to explain the Brazilian events market in 2020, the impacts suffered by event tourism and digital trends as a way to face the pandemic. The methodological contribution is descriptive and exploratory, with a qualitative approach of thirteen protocols of the main international and national representative entities of the event market, collected through online data mining. The main results identified a stagnation in the events sector in Brazil and in the world, a significant number of layoffs and financial losses in companies in the month of April 2020. As an alternative for the resumption of the sector, a unified and subdivided protocol was elaborated. in six sectors of strategic action, basic security, adaptation of the environment, social distance, personal hygiene, communication and monitoring, in order to meet the recommendations of international entities, which suggest the adaptation of protocols at the local level for each specific activity, as well as to assist the event market players in implementing effective actions in the event of a possible resumption.
