O The use of augmented reality and the tourist experience: a systematic literature review in the Scopus database
Abstract
Augmented Reality has evolved over the years and its use has been extended to other areas, such as tourism, causing the consumer experience to undergo several transformations. Based on this greater use of technologies for tourism, the following question arose: what has been produced, in terms of studies, on the theme of augmented reality and its use in tourism? To answer this question, the following objectives were sought: to expose the main trends in the literature on augmented reality and tourism; detect objectives, contexts and approaches of augmented reality in tourism and identify the main studies on augmented reality and the tourist experience. All of this, through a systematic review of the Scopus database. As a methodology for achieving these, criteria were defined for the selection of objectives, through the use of keywords such as augmented reality, tourism and tourist experience. A synthesis of knowledge was carried out, allowing the perception of what is already known about the subject and what can still be researched, in addition to directing to the future and some limitations of the study. It could be concluded that reality increased the influence on the tourist experience and if it is intuitive in the best way, it can contribute to create memorable experiences. The main limitation of the study is the fact that it is a systematic review of the literature in only one database and, therefore, an updated systematic review in other databases is suggested as relevant for future research.
