PSYCHOANALYSIS OF INTELLIGENCE
natural intelligence, artificial intelligence, instinctual intelligence?
Abstract
The specificity of human intelligence is now being questioned in the light of attempts to simulate it in cybernetics, as is the case with the project for artificial intelligence, which would allow comparison between human intellectual activity and the work done by the machine. What understanding of intelligence can psychoanalysis bring to nuance this "copy and paste"? This understanding would be based on a first link established between the notion of intelligence and the description of thought processes in psychoanalysis, which constitute its conscious and unconscious "mechanics". This description is linked to the conception of a drive etiology of thought, linking cognition and drive from the outset. Thus, learning and the development of intellectual activity in human beings are notably motivated by the drive to know. The intellectual work done by humans differs from that done by machines, which are devoid of the question of the search for meaning.
