REFLECTIONS ON THE LIE

Abstract

Text initially published in New York in the first issue of Renaissance, quarterly magazine published by the École Libre des Hautes Études (volume I, issue I, January-March 1943). The text was then published in English in the June 1945 issue of the Contemporary Jewish Record, magazine of the American Jewish Committee under the title "The Political Function of Modern Lies". After the death of Alexandre Koyré, Le Nouveau Commerce reissued this text in its number 5 (spring-summer 1965), preceded by an introduction by Gandillac. Rue Descartes magazine published these pages in its issue 8-9 (November 1993) under the title "The Political Function of Modern Lies". Reflections on lying were the subject of an Italian translation, published in volume by De Martinis & C. Em Catane in 1994 (Riflessioni Sulla menzogna politica, translated by Bruno Lumi, with an introduction by Salvatore S. Nigro).
