The first groups of homosexual affirmation in contemporary Brazil
Abstract
Situated in the gender field and considering the homosexual affirmation movement in Brazil, we present the results of the research The LGBT Affirmation Groups in Contemporary Brazil – Gathering and Analysis of their Proposals, which is integrated to the project Homosexuality & Homophobia, Representations & Media in Contemporary Brazil. We sought to identify and map out representative groups of LGBT movement in Brazil, as well as their program contents and how they will be articulated when searching for visibility. Based on quantitative - qualitative methodology, this research was carried out from August/2012 to July/2013, comprising a bibliographic review referring to the homosexual movement in Brazil; gathering of groups through specialized literature, specific sites in the web, and Brazilian LGBT Association; and structuring of group identification sheets found. We finish highlighting the importance of movements for a democratic society, legitimizing their struggles that came from a democratic bias and faced, throughout history, with several institutions which represented and represent the role of conduct regulators, with their control and repression processes.Downloads
