Abstract

The current societies pass through intense metamorphosis processes, unchained by the pauvehemence of the globalização, that causes restless in the cultural identities and displacement of the social structures. This work has as objective to discuss that restlessness, with central axis the relationship between old and new traditions and the oscillation of the pantaneiro due to the option need or the conciliation between the traditional and the new. The material that composes this discussion leans on, in its theoretical part, in specialists of the subject and researches accomplished in loco, in the Aquidauana, Miranda, Rio Negro and Nhecolândia Pantanal. The results point to the fast implantation of a new performance in Pantanal, invaded by the media, for the computer science and other technological mechanisms worked by the competitive market, that demands innovation and creativity, what affects the eternal notion, included in the traditional concept.
