Sweet potatoes have nutritional importance and substantial economic value at a global level. Understanding the fluctuations in food prices, especially sweet potatoes, is crucial for a greater understanding of the market that encompasses consumers, producers and political decision-makers. Thus, the general objective of this study is to analyze the historical and current trends of sweet potato prices in the Brazilian market, identifying the main factors that influence these variations. The research spans the years from 2001 to 2022, analyzing climatic variables average air temperature (°C) and precipitation (mm) obtained through the NASA POWER platform Nasa Power - Data Access Viewer (2023), production data and sweet potato prices acquired for the automatic data recovery system of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (SIDRA-IBGE) and for the Applied Research Center (CEPEA) respectively. It uses Person correlation analyzes and graphical representations of Boxplot and Dispersal, generated through the Python programming language, using NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib and SciPy libraries. The results will reveal a consistent increase in annual sweet potato prices in three regions over two years. The correlation analyzes highlight a positive association between national sweet potato production and the sweet potato prices of three regions together. Individually São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro present negative correlations, suggesting that a decrease in local production corresponds to higher prices. In contrast, Belo Horizonte demonstrates a positive correlation, suggesting a potential link between the increase in production in Minas Gerais and the increase in prices in the region.
