WE ARE STILL TIRED BUT WE ARE HERE: The Gaze of Teachers after the Covid-19 Pandemic

OS OLHARES DE PROFESSORES PÓS-PANDEMIA DE COVID-19

Abstract

Three years after the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil, it is still possible to observe the changes and disasters caused by the virus. Many of these harsh consequences were felt in many aspects of society, and education was not left out of this account. With the arrival of the rapid contagion, the social distance caused the arrival of remote education. This modality brought many difficulties to the students and their families, but especially to the teachers and the management of these units. Thinking about the current context, how does this post-pandemic scenario continue to affect these teachers? Based on this questioning is the genesis of this work, which aims to discuss aspects of the experience of teachers after the critical period of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is, therefore, an integrative bibliographic research, searching the following virtual libraries: Scielo, BVS Brazil, Pepsic and Lilacs. Publications in Portuguese were selected from the period between 2022 and 2023. Not included in this investigation were interviews, abstracts, reviews, and publications that were beyond the scope of this study. The results point to the presence of illness among these teachers, caused by the lack of public policies and support in managing the pandemic adversities experienced in remote teaching. Moreover, this suffering is also managed by issues related to losses and bereavements felt from significant people as in the school field itself. We conclude the need to look not only at the activities of these teachers, but at their own well-being, which reflects directly on the professional attitude, but above all on the care that reflects the genesis of a good education.
