This article proposes an analysis of the anti-vaccine movements in the current brazilian context of the pandemic of COVID-19, making a historical counterpoint with the Vaccine Revolt, which occurred in 1904, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in order to highlight the social dilemma contained in dystopias of communication between state and society in Brazil, as well as the place of science and the mass media in the general context of the relations between politics and public health. To this end, a bibliographic search was carried out on the Vaccine Revolt and a netnographic study on Google Trends and on the social networks Instagram and Facebook, based on keyword research by algorithms linked to hashtags about the pandemic period of COVID-19, during the year 2020.
