FRONTIERS OF KNOWLEDGE AND INNOVATION IN THE HUMANITIES

Abstract

From the current decision-making centers came the word "innovation", understood as improvements of digital cyberculture restricted to its technical pole, as well as the utopia of the "leisure society" with "productive leisure" as its corollary. The peripheral countries submit to present-day imperialism, which replaced the banner of civilizing and Christianizing the "savage" peoples with a utopian "digital democracy." Under the first flag, the bourgeois conquerors of the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries conquered and colonized whole continents, for the exclusive benefit of Europe. Under the second one, humanity is colonized by the centers in which it beats the heart of contemporary capitalism, becoming a compulsive consumer of technological novelties, seen as guarantors of global material and spiritual prosperity. The inability of developing countries to achieve the utopian society lies on the fact that since the 1980s, without the technical skills required by capitalism, man has lost his market value.
