OS ESTUDOS CULTURAIS NA EUROPA E NA AMÉRICA LATINA
precursores e perspectivas críticas de um campo de pesquisa
Abstract
This article seeks to demonstrate the tradition and legacy of cultural studies in Latin America, as well as reflect on its emergence in European territory through the Frankfurt School and the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies (CCCS), in England. For this, from a methodological point of view, the article starts from a qualitative and descriptive approach in order to cover the development of cultural studies as a multidisciplinary research field. The work examines the theoretical and methodological contributions of cultural studies from their European origins to the present day, focusing specifically on the Latin American contributions of Jesús Martín-Barbero and Néstor García Canclini. In summary, the text takes stock of European and Latin American critical theories, influenced by Marxism, in the cultural field developed throughout the 20th century.
