Abstract

The present study aims to present the work “History of the Body: The Body, the Church and the Sacred” by Jacques Gélis, which addresses the journey of the body of Christ that was penalized and persecuted, as well as the martyrs. Focusing on perspectives and notes highlighted in the text. The research will analyze the countless nuances that refer to the human and divine body, watched and punished, sacred and copied. The narratives of relevant facts for the Church, which have a view of the importance of the Body and the Sacred for a journey in search of the paths of Christ and his experience as man and God on Earth, where wanting to follow this same path was worthy of sacrifices . The methodology was bibliographic, based on the work analyzed and the theoretical assumptions of Cultural Studies. That said, highlighting the bodies and feelings that surround these reports, which had in their body and in their flesh immeasurable pain, torture, mistreatment, continuous pain from these experiences.
