Abstract

This study analyzes the cultural diversity and collective memory of Campo Grande, the capital of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, from an interdisciplinary perspective. The research examines how the city's architectural heritage reflects and integrates the cultural contributions of various ethnic groups that have settled there, including indigenous people, Paraguayans, Italians, Japanese, and Arabs. Using the memory and cultural identity theories of renowned authors such as Jeanne Marie Gagnebin, Beatriz Sarlo, Alfredo Bosi, Stuart Hall, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the article explores the interactions between these theories and the architectural representations of Campo Grande. The study highlights the importance of preserving cultural diversity and multiple narratives as fundamental elements for building an inclusive and rich collective identity, contributing to a deeper understanding of local history and culture
